When I first got the Red Barn diaper, I was curious about the name and discovered that the seamstress who makes these diapers actually lives in a red barn! Wouldn’t that be cool?

nifty-nappy-tag Some of you may have heard of Nifty Diapers, who no longer sells their diapers. Red Barn is a licensed seamstress who is now making the Nifty Diapers, now called Red Barn.

Adjustability and Fit: As much as the chubby look is cute on babies, it at times can be a little frustrating when little one’s clothes don’t fit over the diaper. I found this diaper to be a very trim fitting diaper compared to others. When I heard that this was a one-size fits all diaper, I have to admit that I was hesitant and didn’t think that this diaper would last us for very long. (Little Guy is 8 months and just over 20 pounds). I was very pleased with the fit of this diaper. They fit babies ranging from 7 pounds to 35 pounds so we can continue to use it as Little Guy grows. It’s also nice knowing that since it is a one-size diaper, we don’t have to buy multiple size sets which is more cost effective. Red Barn diapers have cross over wings which make their diaper more varied for fitting smaller babies and then they can expand out since each side has four snaps as baby grows.

Leak Protection: We had no leaks with the Red Barn diaper. We have only used it a handful of times, but we were pleased that he didn’t leak even after wearing it 3.5 hours. This may be due to how the Red Barn diapers are made. They have 3 layers: the outer layer is a cotton knit layer, the middle layer is the waterproof layer, and the inner layer is microfleece that wicks moisture. I have mostly used diapers where the inserts need to be stuffed into the pockets so I wasn’t sure how this diaper would do. I was very pleased and actually loved not having to stuff the diaper after each wash. This is a time saver and with little ones, we all know how demanding our time is! I also enjoyed not having to shake out the inserts after every use. There are also hidden elastics that help to contain moisture and baby didn’t get the red marks or imprints around his legs from the elastic as he does with other cloth diapers we have used.

Wash Routine: I simply soak all my cloth diapers in cold and then wash them in hot water. I hang all my diapers to air dry and if need be, I hang them in the sun to help get rid of stains. The Red Barn diaper cleaned nicely and I also felt that it dried faster then some other brands.

Style: Can I say that these diapers are so adorable! We have the elephant print and I love it! The other print choices are so cute as well and when he has on his Red Barn diaper, I often times don’t put pants on him since it is so cute! I think their print options are by far some of the cutest I have seen and most varied too!

Overall we were pleased with the Red Barn diaper and if you were considering going the cloth diaper route, I would recommend you giving Red Barn a shot!
